-Commonly known as a garden snail, it is a member of the Mollusca phylum. It is in the species of land snails.
-All Cornu aspersum are hermaphrodites, which means that they all have reproductive systems of both genders.
-Its reproduction is sexual for the most part, however they can go through the process of self-fertilization, which means that they can reproduce without having intercourse with another snail.
-These snails use love darts in their mating process. The darts are 1/5 the length of the actual snail.
-The darts are thrown at another snail that is going to mate with the one who threw it. These darts do not carry sperm, but they carry a hormone which allowsmore of the snails eggs to survive.
-Sexual intercourse between two snails can take several hours, before they officially exchange sperm.
-After they exchange sperm, it takes about two weeks before 80 sphere shaped eggs are laid.
-The maximum amount of eggs they can lay in one year is six batches of 80, so about 480 eggs.
